I place real value on physically making things. I am a tinkerer by nature, and enjoy learning new ways to test, make and create.

This has led to a long-standing interest in CAD/CAM processes, from 3D printing and laser cutting to CNC milling, where digital design is translated directly into physical form. I was an early adopter of 3D printing, and spoke on a Clerkenwell Design Week panel in 2013 about the technology and its potential impact on design and architecture.

For me, this connection between digital design and physical making remains one of the most productive parts of the design process.
